
SUMMER STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS
Three $8000 scholarships are offered each summer to medical students from Taranaki. Scholarship projects usually run for 8 weeks between November and February.
Projects can be in the community or hospital based. Projects are different each year, and while your special interests will be taken into account projects are not decided until after scholarship recipients are chosen.
Applications are open from the 1st of June until 1st of August.
ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible to apply you must:

be from Taranaki
-
be in your second, third or fourth year of medical school on application

be available for a minimum of 7 weeks between November and February, not including Christmas/ New Year and any other time you may wish to take.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
As well as participating in your project, you will also be asked to:

Produce a written report to the Executive Committee, detailing your outcomes

Deliver a short presentation with your project supervisor, either in person, via Zoom, or recorded about the project.
HOW TO APPLY
Before you begin you will need:

A copy of your CV or resume

A letter to the Executive Committee introducing yourself, why this scholarship interests you, and what you think you will gain from it.

A short video introduction -maximum 2-3 minutes (optional but encouraged).
Tip:
The Executive Committee is looking to get a sense of who you are beyond your academic results. Treat your written application and the video introduction as you would an interview panel.
Include any academic and non-academic accomplishments, leadership roles, community involvement, personal characteristics, or life experiences that help demonstrate what makes your application unique and how this opportunity may contribute to your future development.
